Reorganization Prestige: 600 Prototype: none Upgrade: put the 15 leFH 18 of the 2nd D on halftracks Purchace: 15 sFH 18 (tracked) Core 6th D: 1 PzIIIE, 1 PzIVD, 1 PSW231, 1 10.5 leFH 18, 1 15 sFH 18, 1 Infantry, 1 Pioneer 2nd D: 1 PzIIIE, 1 PzIVD, 1 PSW231, 3 15 sFH 18 (tracked), 1 Infantry Luftflotte: 1 Ju-87B, 1 Bf-109E Strategy This is basicly a two fronts war with the battlefield divided by the lake. Western group, comprising of the 6th D, minus one infantry regiment, has as main objective the capture of the airfield north of Cjevik and then drive north toward Lilehammer. Terrain is more difficult especially through the narrow pass via Cjevik so I decided to put the main thrust to Lilehammer on the Eastern side. The 2nd D, reinforced by a infantry from the 6th D, should broke through Hamar quickly and drive north with its tracked artillery and Panzers for the northern objectives. Turn 1 6th D advanced toward Cjevik with artillery in range. 2nd D attacked with artillery and broke Norvegian defense east of Hamar. Enemy artillery holding the city crippled by Panzers. Turn 2 2nd D took Hamar after destroying all enemy forces in the area and swung north. Infantry transferred from the 6th D dug in to hold the city. 6th D's artillery started shelling Norvegian artillery and infantry around Cjevik. Turn 3 2nd D kept rushing north through mountain pass. Stuka crippled and suppressed enemy artillery covering Cjevik. Artillery support allowed the PzIVD to destroy a infantry and to outflank the town from the west. Turn 4 6th D took Cjevik and lined up in front of the western airfield. 2nd D's artillery in range on the northern airfiled, followed by Panzers and infantry. Turn 5 A RAF Spitfire I flew into western airfield. Ignoring it, 6th D captured the airfield and lined up in front of Biri. 2nd's Panzers and infantry moved in to attack position while its artillery was being resupplied. I tried to set up a trap with a mounted artillery guarded by the Bf-109E but the Spitfire didn't bite (note: don't try to attack the Spitfire with the Bf-109E or you'll get the worst of it). Turn 6 The Norvegian infantry leader defending the northern airfield succumbed to a concentric attack of 3 15 leFH 18s, which took up position on the lakeshore facing Lilehammer to the north. PzIVD took the airfiled. 6th D took Biri and advanced as far as Vigrom. Turn 7 Norvegian infantry counter-attack at the northern airfield repulsed by the PzIVD but inflicted heavy casaulties. Artillery cleared the approach to Lilehammer's eastern suburb and started softening up the infantry in the city. 6th D took Vigrom and rushed to close the pincer on Lilehammer. Turn 8 (Brillant Victory) Very exciting battle. Norvegian infantry leader counter-attacked and succeeded in retaking Vigrom, but had its strength reduced to 2 due to covering artillery fire on the other side of the lake. Pioneer of the 6th D destroyed enemy infantry at Vigrom. 2 15 sFH 18s of the 2nd D smashed enemy infantry defending Lilehammer. The rest of the artillery landed on the last Norvegian infantry blocking the western approche to the city and the Stuka finished it off. Finally, the PSW231 of the 6th D was able to take Vigrom and Lilehammer by a staggered movement. |
